A major 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit Mindanao, Philippine Islands, on September 23, 2016, at 2253 UTC, at a depth of 42.9 miles, reported the National Tsunami Warning Center, Palmer, AK.

The National Tsunami Warning Center issued a Tsunami Information Statement on September 23, 2016, at 401 pm PDT.

A major 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit the Philippine Islands region on September 6, 2013, at 11:33:57 UTC, at a depth of 132 km, reported Geoscience Australia. This information has not been finalized.

126 major (6.0+) earthquakes hit various places over the last 220 days. Among these were 14  7.0+ and 2  8.1+ magnitude quakes!
